More pictures and info to come

Update: engine, radiator and main gun are complete and intact. A piece of rear armour is missing, wheels, dampers and tracks are in good condition. 2 wheels are damaged but complete, wheel hubs and suspension in v. good condition

          Superb

Hopefully it is a Panzergranate in the barrel and not a Spreng....

          Thanks for sharing....

          Cheers

If I may add my 2 cents to this thread, here are some more pics. Some of them show what was found inside the vehicle:

Somebody on the other forum published this as the coordinates:

                http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=p...6919&z=11&om=1

Looks like it was out in the surf in the ocean in northern Poland. Salt water has got to have done a job on a lot of the metal.

Got to wonder if it was purposely ditched, with the shell in the barrell and driven into the sea?

I'd bet you're right Jack. The fired a dud round and then said screw it, and drove it into the water.

German units on the Hel peninsula formally surrendered on May 10th 1945, they had been encircled (or cut off more like it) there since the fall of Gotenhafen (Gdynia) in March. Oddly enough it more or less ended where it started, the Hel peninsula was the last foothold of the Polish armed forces in 1939.

The "bullet" in the barrel turned out to be the thing you clean the barrel with (please give the English name for it )
