More importantly what was it attatched to and is it still underground? Post some close up of the barrel and measurements of diameter and length.

Unfortunately I don't have more photos.
      I only have this picture.
      Could be a pak40?
A peasant said to my friend that there is a tank under the ground... could be a MARDER?

It's looks too small for a PAK 40. The profile looks good for the PAK 38 though. Looks like a pretty cool find!

Whew! I've been looking all over the beaches of Hawaii for that thing. I couldn't for the life of me remember where I left it. Now then, let me give you my shipping address and you can send it back to me and I promise not to leave my Pak 38 cannons laying around anymore.
Interested in candid/private Hitler, KIA, and Holocaust photos. Also any AH related memorabilia--silverware, linen, crystal, china...

I dont see how you can identify it as a PAK. Granted its likely to be an antitank barrel since barrels of tanks dont just fall off. It might even be an Italian Antitank piece. If you post the diameter of the muzzle bore we can put the argument to bed.

I am going by the positioning of the trunnion as there is a slight difference between the anti tank and tank guns. It certainly could be the Italian gun as well. Heck it could also be the Czech 47mm from a Marder. But based on the location it was found, and its apparent dimensions a PAK 38 is a educated guess.

Well, looking at the pic it is somewhat virticle so it had something nasty happen to it by intent.

Looking in the background it apperars thier is a lot of non natural lying around
on the surface, along with some obviouse man formed pieces, i suspect this may have been a fixed position , possibly covering the natural rise to its front,
High ground to the left flank so it may be the same to the right , natural re-entrant from the beaches or low lands ?

Plenty of mounts that could be set in concrete for these things or even just a damaged gun fixed in place. Locals may have tried to clear the site for the farmed area as it looks sort of cultivated .
Follow up on this one would be interesting to see what lurks below.
                          regards
Tim...............hell of a dig you got thier mate :-)
