    Restoration in the Balkans

Yes, this is done, too. The Military Museum in Sofia, Bulgaria, has some unique pieces on display, many of them in poor condition. But little by little, restoration work will go on.

Here are photos of a WW1 German anti-balloon gun. It actually uses Russian made barrel, probably captured earlier in the war. Here are photos of its condition, the spring of 2006:

Not very good condition, as you can see.

But then its life changed. The change came in the face of /retired/ colonel Agop Cazassiyan, a true collector and a man who cares for the history and the historical pieces. He took the gun and restored it on his own expenses. Not only repainting, but complete restoration!!! One big BRAVO to this great man, patriot and collector!!! Here is the gun now, complete, excellent, already under a roof in the museum:

And this is not his only project! He is also almost ready with the restoration of another rare artillery piece, pics will come soon!

        Theo,
A job well done. You say at his own expense? Your country is lucky to have such a good man.

So nice to see that.. I was quite desperate concerning some materials that are stored in Sofia, it's really great to see that some persons are still interested in preserving those unique pieces..
