    Jungs holt fast…

I'm not sure it has anything to do with armor formations. "Jungs holt fast" is plattdeutsch (low German) and I believe it means "Boys, hold on fast" based on a cursury search of the phrase on the Internet. (The phrase is meaningless in high German.) There was a movie of that title in 1924 and, apparently, it occurs in student drinking songs. Sorry to say, but the plate probably has nothing to do with armor.

While the translation is on, I actually think the plate is either a HJ plate or relates to a school. The L******246;we (lion) is symbolic of HJ who were affectionately called junge l******246;wen, Young Lions.

The art is a little simplistic in design compared to other hand painted plates.

The 'R' within the shield is perplexing but I would venture to guess more research is needed for the affiliation. I am away from all my armor and unit references at present. It isnt in Sutterlin script either. It could even be for the city of Regensburg.

The reverse simply gives the name of the initials of the artist who hand painted it, the company & the series number which you could order.

Note, the band is for the color of J******228;gers.

Please note the camo scheme on that Wespe. Nice Desert Storm camo. Any phrase probably would have done for that piece of armor, Sieg! Sieg! Sieg! for example.

One which recently caught my eye was 'Mutti zum posten, Ihre bubi get zum osten'- Mother to your post, your baby is heading to the East.

I actually have a rear shot of a stug that also has this slogan on it. I cannot remember exactly where this stug is located. If I recall correctly it is in a Russian Tank museum. Enjoy
