Wheter any Jagdtigers were in fact employed by the LAH is still a matter of much speculation, and so far, I have seen no photographs that would support this...

      LAH Jagdtigers

Hi Christian, I was using the book "Jochen Peiper. Commander PanzerRegiment Leibstandarte" by Patrick Agte as the source material for my question. I would be interested to hear any debates on the question.
      Regards Richard.

          Hello,

From my readings, I think there is no question that the LAH received 8 Jagdtigers in the very last days of the war. As I remember, there are pictures of them - perhaps in Jentz's books.

          Will check.

These 8 Jagdtiger (those with equiped with 8.8cm Pa.K. 43 L/71s) have also reported to have been blown up on the assembly tracks in other books.

I have been unable to find any such photographs in Deveys book, but I'll try to gather enough funds to buy Jentz' Tiger books...

              Jagdtigers

The confusion seems to be that the 3 Jagdtigers photographed at Strengberg (one with the teddy bear on the front) were crewed by sPzJ.Abt.653 personal but commanded by a LAH Officer(so were LAH Jagdtigers?) The 2 jagdtigers SAID to have been used by sSS PzAbt 501 could also have been described as LAH (501's old parent Unit and 501 are often still described as Leibstandarte). Suffice it to say there is a lot of confusing and contradictory references for these Jagdtigers. In TICII the 'teddy bear' Jagdtigers are described as 501 vehicles but in Devey's book on the Jagdtiger these vehicles are described as the 653 crewed vehicles.

That is the solution I usualy hear about these Jagdtigers. Personally, I'd not name these as LAH, or 501 for that matter, but 653...

Anyways, I believe that the '8' is the very last Kagdtigers produced, which were equipped with Pa.K. 43 L/71s in the need of gun mounts. There was still a need for (I believe, but I'm not sure) optics, so they were ordewred to be destroyed on the assembly tracks...

                  LAH JAGDTIGERS

Hi Guys, very many thanks indeed for the shared information concerning the 8 Jagdtigers. I must admit that I took Patrick Agte's work 'as read' concerning their issue and did not realise the situation was open to interpretation as to whom the Jagdtigers actually belonged. Still, if anyone can point myself in the right direction to finding good quality pictures of the said Jagdtigers I would still be very grateful indeed.
                  Regards Richard.
