Gary yours is a 60M as you can see the screw just under the trigger if it was a 100M it would be about 15cms futher back and the 30M would have a different type tube
Mat I have seen a few but the dealers selling them seem to think they are worth stupid money in worse condition than this one as i am also looking for the 30M Gross and a better 100M

Looks very real to me,and also very dangerous!!
The rust may have corroded the aluminium detonator housing!!
Treat it with highly care M8!!
Are you positive it has been deactivated????
They were instable then,what do you think about now??

All the 'fausts that are found in the water have that characteristic patination and pitting.

Thanks everyone , and yes Ray, it is deactivated. Notice the hole in the head. So a water find? Would think it would be all rusty from being in water.

I've heard about Panzerfaust's found in deep Austrian lakes that were very well preserved due to being in a cool and low oxygen enviroment. This is the first one I've seen though thats been ID'd as a waterfind.

Not many of these come to me, infact none. My question is ofcourse is it real?
Taken some photos for help. Looks as though it may have been ground dug, then treated with shalack or something to preserve it. Are these rare? What are they worth in this condition? Weighs about 15lbs., more or less. Almost 41 1/2" long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UK prices stated are "cheap". In the US, one in this condition would be at least $1,000. I suspect higher these days.

Seems these "waterfinds" get more expensive the further away the go from their WW2 resting place!

It looks like it. Closeups would be a help to verify it though. I kept a '60 and a Kleine in my collection that I recovered from one of the lakes back in 1985 or '86, they were both in about 160 feet of water and were exceptionally well preserved. Wood was near perfect and the fins were likewise in great shape.

So basically what your saying, here in the US they are worth more than say England, Europe area? From the small pics Robin, yours looks nice. So majority are water finds? Who threw them in the lakes? Germans surrendering or allies?
Sorry for maybe to many questions. But cannot have every book published, if there is one out there. And never thought I would come across one of these, when not even looking for one. Funny how things pop up when you least expect them. Any more info would be great .

Hi Gary, I think the greater value placed on them comes from the problems associated in shipping an item like that across the Atlantic, especially in todays climate.

As to how they got into the lake I think it will be a bit of both, with the Allies and the Germans doing the same thing.

I have one of a cache of British PIAT rounds which also came from an Austrian lake. Condition is really nice considering.

Thanks Gary. Mine is pretty complete as well......just surface rust that I managed to clean up and stop. I got this one at Beltring in 2002 and brought it home on a plane.......I was genuinely surprised they let me on board with it. The dealer refused to mail it because of the cost (not surprisingly).
