      Holy S##T Batman....

Wow... , perhaps Russia is the Lucky country...

I can't believe the condition of it, still with numbering and Balkenkreuz. That is a truly amazing find and obviously the mud has kept the oxygen from causing any major corrosion. The best thing about the series of photos is that they show the location it was found in. It would appear that it became bogged in swampy low lying ground in amongst vegetation all those years ago, and slowly settled down to the point that it was regarded as impossible to remove, forgotten about or ignored. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

      Regards;

      Johnsy

Did you seen the date of this recover? It was years ago and was posted many times here and in all other forums.

What's your point? Not all of us see every post "in all other forums".

This StuG was found near the city "Velikiye Luky", and in Russia his name is "Velikoluksky".

Now it is situated in Saratov.
After years at the open air, restoration of this vehicle is nearly impossible .

Are you saying that since it's recovery it's just been left in the open to rust away?

                      Yes.
After recovery this Stug was moved to the yard of some factory.
Next several years it rusts at the open air.
Kubinka' restorers wanted to get this machine for restoration, but they were not allowed to do it.

Now this Stug is a monument in Saratov.
                      Maybe, forever.

Tragic. It survived a war, and traveled through time in beautiful condition...only to be doomed by the neglect of man. Knowing this, I wish they would have just left it where it was.

I've read about that - it was pulled out of the mud with with its original wartime paint!!! But after years in the open, it has lost the paint, it is rusty now Of course, it can be restored very well, but after all it will be a restoration job, not a preserved original piece.

Sounds like an offense worthy of a trip to the gulags

Are there any photos of the interior?
