    Panzer POW

    Here is one for you Panzer guys - a photo taken by U. S. Army Signal Corps of POW's arriving in the USA. Identified as Carl Becker of Berlin, captured in Tunisia.

          His whole uniform is nice considering he came from Tunisia! Must have been a a late arrival to the theater!
          A number of years ago, there were a whole bunch of these Afrika PW arrival photos online on a website for something like a "Hampton Roads Project". Don't know whatever happend to that site, but it was great for uniforms.

            I believe, this wrapper probably stay within US after the war.

                I have a friend who was a panzer driver captured when the Afrikacorps surrendered, he was sent to the US. His photos of camp life show many men still wearing their badges and medals. He said that was normal, that early on the men were allowed to keep their items but the later POW's didn't arrive with them.

                Really nice photo of what looks to be a pristine wrap.
