German use of Russian 76mm gun...

I know the Germans captured a lot of Russian 76mm guns and they liked them enough to start to make ammo for it, my question is this did the Germans make any other changes to the weapon or did they leave it alone?

7,62 cm Pak conv. to 7,50 cm Pak

    Hello,

at the end of 1941 the MARDER II Panzerjäger was fitted with this
russian gun with original caliber (7,62 cm).
But it was a problem to have enough ammo for the gun.
So it didn't take long and the gun was converded to a 7,50 cm caliber(german caliber).

Only 350 Marder II have been build(all with russian guns).

The Pak (7,50 cm)was even used in the Afrikacorps, so far I know a
Richtschütze earned the Ritterkreuz with this gun.

    Hope this helps you.

    Bye

    Michael

The Soviet guns used in this fashion were the 76mm F-22 M1936 and the 76mm F-22 USV M1939.

The Germans made changes to the guns chamber, allowing it use the same cartridge as the 7,5cm PaK 40. The projectile fired remained 7,62cm although of German manufacture. The elevating handwheel was moved to allow one-man operation of elevation and traverse and a muzzle-brake added.

Thus the F-22 became the 7,62cm PaK 36r and the F-22 USV became the 7,62cm PaK 39r.

Info according to Hogg: "German Artillery of WWII"

Hi Guys, I thought that you might like to see this picture from my collection. It has never been published before. It was taken in North Africa by a firend of mine, an officer of the Northumberland Fusiliers who won the Military Cross. His caption to the photo is:
" One of many. A Bosche tank buster. (location) Bascha "
I do like this photo as it shows a German vehicle, with a Czech chassis and Russian gun, knocked out by the British in North Africa!
          Cheers, Ade.
