35mm Kodak slide Panther Ausf. G – Houffalize Oct 1973

Oh the days of climbing all over these or meeting a veteran when you visited a monument. Here is a slide of the Houfallize Panther Ausf. G from the 116th Panzer-Division lost in the River Ourthe extracted and put on display in Sept 1948. Obviously went through many a paint job and here at least with the correct turret number albeit way to small. This scheme reminds of Joe Kuberts drawings of panzers in Sgt. Rock which I read back then. Typical 70s German tank markings.

    Enjoy.

In 2017 it was removed from it's concrete pedestal and trucked to Bastogne Barracks for a 2 year restoration. Not sure if it ever got completed? Interesting to see the changes to it in the decades since the 1973 slide. Somewhere in its history it lost the MG ring on the cupola and there were roadwheel changes.
