Couldn´t get one thing out of my mind regarding that King Tiger.
If it has a damaged track, why tow it? It don´t make sense to me, towing it would damage it even more. Same thing would happen if it was driven IMHO!Regards

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Hello Hans N,
I couldn´t tell you what happend exactly on that day and I don´t know what kind of damage he had on the track(moveable/not moveable) but the Tiger had position on a central and importend place.
look here
That was his position, the "Potsdamer Platz" and it was his order to stop enemy there because it was the border of the government destrict(near the "Reichstag"). Left top corner the big building is the "Potsdamer Bahnhof"(the building in the background of your pic). He had to control 4 or 5 streets and it was importend that he was able to move forward or backward. If he was not able to move he could be hit very quick cause he was alone on that place without any flank support.
I think he was in a very "hot" position and they had to towed him out there quickly. He was towed in direction to the "Reichstag" to a little more save but also controling position. After the track was fixed again he moves back to the place but had still problems to manoeuvre. That was the reason why he was abondened later in the evening.

HI!
Do you have any idea who was the commander of the Tiger I (turret number 323) that was destroyed in Tiergarten near the Brandenburg Gate? I assume that this tank was part of the Pz Rgt Müncheberg, but which battalion/company/platoon?

Does anyone know the final disposition of Untersharfuhrer Georg Diers Tiger II nr. 314 and have a pic?
the tiger of DIERS was destroyed by a mine anti-tank device put inside the tank by DIERS itself on may 2,1945.
