Well I did find myself another picture in Tigers in Combat II. There is a short article on Tigers in the Müncheberg Panzer Division towards the back of the book. Does anyone else know of another picture?

Hans is correct - the second scan is the opposite side of the same Tiger.

Did they use "old stocks"? This looks like a very early Tiger1? Does anybody know more?

I would imagine by this time they used whatever had a gun on it - I read somewhere that a WWI tank from a museum was moved out to be used as a stationary pillbox in the street fighting - I wish there was a photo of that!

Hi Don,

yes, they used all the old stuff at this stage of the war, of course a early Tiger1 was no old stuff in 45....But still very unusual to see one of these in Berlin 1945...Perhaps this one was before in use in a army school or so...But that's just guessing...

From what I've found, the panzers of this division were from school, training units, and maintenance depots. Panzerabteilung Kummersdorf/Müncheberg had on 25 February, 1945: 4 Tiger II’s, 1 Tiger I, 1 Jagdtiger, with 5 other Tiger I’s due in. As of Berlin, there were 5 panzers left.

Here is a Tiger II from my files. It seems they tried to tow it!

The Kingtiger was towed in the hours before cause he had a damage on the track. He was towed by a Bergepanther to the "Reichskanzlei"(few hundred meters away)and after the track was repaired the Tiger go back on the position in front of the "Potsdamer Bahnhof"(your image) where he was abondened finaly on the same day.
