505 used that insignia from the spring of 1944 to the end of the war And i believe the 505 fought only in the eastern front. Thats all i can come up with at the time.. Hope it helps

well here is some more info
505 was formed in 1943 with belements of the 3 and 26 pz div .it fought in orel then in operation zitadelle after it fought in narew and east prussia.this batallion destroyed 900 russian tanks.
