Thank You for comments. If You have any Flak38 parts, please contact me
Finally I found the last shield for my Flak38 project. Now I can clean and repair them.
Today I decide to restore Z.F. 3x8 Flak 2cm scope. After removing rust I am trying to reassembly and clean all lens. At the first time I think that will not be possibly to do, but now I think it is possible. Few hours, washing in penetrator and I removed front and back lens. I need only to remove two lens frlm inside but before I do this, I need to make special key to unscrew lens from inside.
Also I receivedMystery Sd.Ah.51 box. Mystery because in trailer instructuon there is written that box was for magazine loader tool. I never saw that type of tool. Also boxes like this was used on Sdkfz7 for carrying flak magazines. Why it was only one box on Sd.Ah.51 trailer? there is place for two boxes like this. All informations will be helpfull.
Nevermind, I found very rare box in great condition with some nice paint on one side and I am happy of that
The quarantine has been going on for several days and I didn't go outside. Meanwhile I dodnt notice that my Flak started to duplicate !!!
Finally I found right rivets and I can start mounting round floor. A lot of work with hammer
The riveting process is completed. Both floors attached. I decide to keep both original diamond pattern sheets from the floor. I decided not to repair the shrapnel damage. However, I secured the sharp edges so that nobody would accidentally injure themselves. IMO saving these damages will give more character to the exhibit.
Today I want to clean all metal rods and basket for roundfloor bearing. Hour after hour with sand paper... But I see light at the end of tunel Interesting is that I found a signature on balls basket. Star and FI12. I have original balls but they are bot possible to use because of corosion, I need to buy 97 balls with 14mm diameter.
97 holes to clean... a loong evening with dremmel and bearing ball basket.
97 balls and 0.5 liters of grease. Lets start a party
Today was fast cleaning and painting seat mount and seat. Nothing big, but it start looking good. Also I want to present You product made in Poland. I dont have an original sight arm mechanism for Flak38 but I have very nice reproduction
Another great reproduction made in Poland. I was working today to fit all parts together. I need to correct a bit dimensions of holes, but now it looks fine and will be mounted on my flak.
Next step was restorration of lock system in gun craddle bearing mount for sight system rod.
Today I started restoring my Sd.Ah.51 trailer. I dismounted all parts prepared them for sandblasting. I need to do small repair and I will take all separated parts, wheels, frame for sandblasting and next will paint it in red primer. Still I need to find back lamp and two sockets for 3 pins.
Today I was working on Sd.Ah.51 whrel wich I have in my collection. I decide to remove rust from paint and try to uncover original camouflage paint. I think it is ready now.
Hi, a very interesting project and thanks for posting all those pictures, it's great to see it coming back together again. Interesting to see the ball bearing part of the turntable and the technical details of the gun carriage. The sort of details I never knew about. Thanks and regards David.
