A mystery... Anyone knows where the rest of the tanks from Aberdeen wrnt to?
A few things went to another museum but the rest?
The officials in Aberdeen won't answer this questio, anyone has further infos?

Most of it went to Fort Benning, GA for a new museum. Look for Hilary Doyle videos on you tube, he's be doing short films on some of the German vehicles.Comment

Taken during a trip to the APG in 2010. Unfortunately, the Tiger I wasn't there then, but I did get an image of the hits on the frontal armour of the Jagdtiger.

A number of items are/were at Fort Lee in Virginia, at least ca. 2010, when I visited.
Leopold/Anzio Annie railway gun.
Elefant Jagdpanzer.
Various/many cannon barrels.
Lots of other goodies, all outdoors.

Most of it went to Ft Lee. I was there a few years ago, and the stuff is still in storage. No funding for the new museum down there. Meanwhile, we have a new Civil Rights, Slavery, and two Harriet Tubman museums, so you now know where the priorities are.
Last I heard was that one of the Tigers was in England and was supposed to be returned after a bad loan with the Germans.Comment

I was at Fort Lee in the fall of 2016, the building situation was mentioned to me by one of the museum staff down there. Anzio Anne was disassembled and loaded up for transport in late November 2010.Originally posted by Bern View PostComment

I originally wrote ca. 2010 and was off target, as another poster proves in his response to the thread. I do remember being able to walk among all the vehicles without any problem but times have changed in oh-so-many-ways. There is also a US Army Quartermasters Museum at Ft. Lee very much worth a visit, when things return to normal, God willing and the creek don't rise.

The Germans were complicit as well.
It was initially on loan to them as well as the PzII.
They were going to restore and return it.
I believe they decided it was theirs and were going to keep it.
Much finagling and posturing with legal actions tossed in.
They still have the PzII.MLPComment

Tiger 712 in now back in the USA and is undergoing Restoration but with limited funds,you will find out more on Facebook as there are a couple of Tiger tank groups on there with pictures...
I have to say it pretty shocking as to why all these rare German AFV in the USA are just left to fester but atleast now most are under cover from the elements.
Considering the US military budget runs into trillions of tax payer dollars each year why they can't siphon off a $ million(just a drop in the ocean) for restoration work..I note that some Americans on these Fb forums have a rather arrogant approach as to why they should be re stored to running condition at all and that the English took a perfectly good engine from a TigerII to use in a TigerI so that it runs but it is now not original

One also said if it was restored to running condition you'd need plenty of open space to run it,,,seriously?,if one thing the USA has,it's plenty of open space
..
