    Tiger tanks snt to Long Island NY ??

    Hi all, I am trying to confirm this story. A well known producers of documentaries on Youtube claims that a Tiger tank from Germany was sold to a New York collector, Long Island. I checked with the head of the Armour Museum in Long Island NY and he has no clue. Here is the name of the documentary if you don't want to use the link: Frankentiger - The Tiger Back From The Dead.       yes, it is with a private collector on long island. It is a Private Museum, not public. highly doubt it will ever see the light again...unless he decides to place it publicly in the museum he just acquired (that he is also moving to Long Island).

          they will never get it running. They had the option of doing so (maybe $2MM i restoration work) before it came here, but they declined.

          Many years ago, the Hoebigs who originally owned it were going to make it running, as they had a deal with Munster to do a trade for the original transmission. Munster changed their mind a couple years back.

          it is completely gutted internally. Though made from different wrecks, the main serial number is present.

            That will still be a good static display.
            I think even if it gets running, the cost of maintain it will be too much,for example, one will need to maintain a team of specialists who know how to lubricate the driveshaft, engine, tighten the track from time to time...etc.
            It will be a Gill Gates' toy if in running condition.

              Just a side issue:
              Long time ago I am thinking to produce a 1:1 plastic tiger with simple working mechanism like in those 1:35 model tank. Very light weight so simple electrical motor is needed to make it moves.
              Anyway, this video is interesting, especially watch 7.35.

                  Serial No: 250999

                  Produced in 1944. Damaged on the Eastern Front in April 1944 with (s.Pz.Abt. 507), and then transferred to France for refit shortly afterwards (presumably part of s.Pz.Abt. 508). Was most likely knocked out in 1944, shortly after
                  the Normandy invasion.

                      it was stamped where all the main IDs are marked...left of the the driver position on the support brace/bracket.

                          This is interesting, a while back there was a sighting of a Tiger I
                          in New Jersey. At the time folks thought it would end up at the
                          Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, it didn't.

                          The Museum recently got a Tiger I that looks similar to the
                          ones in Kelly's Heroes, but not the Franken Tiger.
                          So this Franken Tiger I is on the Island in a collection.

                          Harrison you mentioned a private collector and a museum he just acquired moving to Long Island, any idea of its future location?
