    Crosses on panzers painter red & black

    I learned something new - apparently late in the war, the Germans painted their crosses in red and black, rather than white and black.......look at about 11:30

    Stug;

    In 2009 my son and I crawled through that Stug when it was at Ft. Knox in one of the storage area garages at the old motor pool the Patton Museum used. It was a volunteer Saturday. Its totally original and has all its original paint and markings. It was marked to a LW ground unit but the unit had not been identified. Probably the most original Stug in the world.

      I would tend to believe what Hilary says here and it makes sense too( its less Obvious) but why is only the balken cross at the rear in red and black and the crosses on the sides are still white and black on this same StuG ????

      cheers

        Rear markings

        I agree Bullitt.
        I think this rear marker have been subject to 'artistic' license
        by the painter. Not a key identifier from distance, unlike the side
        markings, which remained consistent amongs armies.
