    Need help!:Black Wound Badge

    Hi people,

I'm new in this site, and I found it really very interesting.

This is my second message for this subject (...I don't know what happened to the first one...).

I'm wondering if my badge is real or fake. Well, it was brought from "Russland" as a good one. May be someone could help me. Let's go:

    1) Ok, according to the dealer, the original stick was replaced by this one appearing in the photo*.

    2) But what about the metal under the "brass" coat (look to the edges)?? Is it normal?

    3) And the manufacturer mark, L/11? I've found out that it is very difficult to find pieces with such mark. Is that true?

Besides, most of the black badges that I've seen, preserve its black paint at 99% levels even after 55 years, but this one seems to have lost its paint at 50%.

    4) I've checked all the measurements (helmet, cross, swords) and they are all ok.

    That's all for now.

    Greetings to everybody!

*I have two photos but I don't know how to attach it. Sorry I'll send them as soon as I can.

    Hi lohengrin24,

You can only attach pics if you are a Association Member. This requires only 20 USD annual fee and that money is wisely spent. See how to apply on homepage of this forum.

I understand you have a black L/11 wound badge that you want to verify. Here are pics of my L/11 so you can compare.

    Cheers, Frank H.

          Hi Lohengrin

It seems your given URL is not working normally. Did you test it with totally sign off from Yahoo? I personally use yahoo's geocities to post pictures. Hope I can see your Black Wound Badge.

Here is an example URL of mine.

            it's a no gooer

Frank your's looks really nice, just the way I like WB's a little bit of wear to add to the character.

              To Frank,

What´s your wb made of? It looks like brass but in the front it looks like steel looking at the scratches in the swastica.

              To Lohengrin,

Whithout any picture it´s impossible to determine if it´s good or not.

Javier's wound badge site is one of the best sites I see... Take a look of his web.

                Saludos Javier...

                  Dear Javier,

Yes, the base metal of my badge also leaves me scratching my head. Base metal is certainly brass BUT you are right some scratches and worn areas on the front show a white metal. The badge is not magenetic at all.

I am confident that the badge is good. What are your thoughts?

                  Cheers, Frank H.

                      Hi guys,

                      I start with Frank's badge,
Only brass made hollow issues i have seen from that maker with this cind of pin, hinge, catch assemblies shown in this pic, marked "L/11" in a raised letters.
On solid badges the maker marks are stamped in the middle.

When i have time i'll post some pic's from both issues.

                      lohengrin24's badge,

The pic's are too small to have a better opinion, in general your badge is looking good.

This maker also is not scarce, frequently someone can find Black WB's marked "L/11" or "3" either.
