S&L Black Wound Badge with original dirt

Hi guys,

I bought this S&L Black Wound Badge yesterday at a small military show. Included with the Wound Badge at no extra cost was the original dirt still packed into the recesses of the reverse. I wonder where this dirt came from?

You're so fortunate in the badges and medals you keep picking up from your local shows that I have become suspicious. I think the dirt is from your back yard where you bury the badges for a little bit of aging after you've made them in your workshop!
