Offering for your review these two WBs I have had for years. I would sure appreciate your opinions on authenticity. The gold badge is heavier than the black. Might be a mark on its pin by catch. Black WB looks shabby - I'm leaning toward bad... I've looked at dozens of examples on this forum but couldn't find an exact match. Thanks.

I believe both are original black wound badges, just heavily worn. I can't tell you who the makers are, though there may be some here that can do so once they see them. As a general rule, the one made of the brass type material is probably earlier in the war while the other steel one is mid to late in the war.
Hopefully someone who specializes in wound badges will give you some more info if they can. It's not always easy to tell individual makers if there are no maker marks as some companies shared the same basic dies for their badges.

Both are black wound badges. The right one looks a bit odd, and especially the upper part of the sword on the right. Like it's out of shape a bit. But maybe it's just the thick coat of paint on that area that makes it look strange.Comment
