For those with deep pocketbooks 20Juli44

So, Helmut Weitze and his staff have a Siver and Gold 20 Juli 1944 wound badges from their Friday update. As usual, with a high value item, it doesn't mention a price, but you must inquire. Basically, if you have to ask, you can't afford.

    Wow.

    Regards,

There is still traces of frosting.....but what I can't get over IS why a badge awarded on the 20th of july and worn for less than a year, kept in a presentation box, and worn seldom by many awardees , and some not at all, could be this worn on the frosting .Collectors and the original german awardees familys keep stuff like this protected , so Im sure I could understand it if the attempt had been in 39 or even 36, then it may have this much wear. I would expect it to be very black at least with a 70 years patina. It also seems to me there are more 20th of july so called originals sold around the world than were ever even made including the supposed back up awards, but I also dont think old adolph allowed too many back ups to even have been made by many companys to just make up these. I would assume these awards would have been made by one company(L/12) only, and a special order by AH himself. So although I like the badge, and am not knocking it per se, although its clear to me I can see the day when we will have to locate all original existing versions , know who specificly owns them, and when they are sold by anybody, they willl likely have to divulge which collector as provenance owned it prior, and possibly even pedigree these as to the chin of previous ownership to better believe a badges originality. They just keep popping up...........go figure.
