    L/14 SWB ( painted black original )

    I picked this up at the ASMIC Show (Fort Mitchell , Ky) today. You can see traces of black paint on the helmet / dimple pattern and around the edges on the back. My gut feeling is the paint is original wartime. I'm looking forward to hearing other opinions....

    Hi mate - don't think its painted but the silver finish has just reacted to the environment changing the finish to black - have an unmarked SWB in my collection that has done the same - would post photo but don't know where my camera is

          They do look similar. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this possibility. Is your badge marked? Any cleaning suggestions? I'll probably leave it alone.

            Hi mate - mine is non maker marked my friend and no I wouldn't clean it - best leave as it is.
