    ANOTHER cased silver wound badge

Mine is MM'ed 4 on the pin itself. Purchased from awardee's granddaughter, with some background on it. Awarded for France, 1940.
    Inputs always welcome!

          Hello Hank,

Nice Wound Badge by Steinhauer and Lück. The case looks good also. Did you pick up anything else from the family member?
          Best regards! Tom

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

              Hi,

Nice badge and what looks like a nice case.

Interesting though! A die cast zincer dating to 1940!! With a Prasidialkanzlei number pre-dating the 1941 set-up of the LDO. That should generate some discussion!!

              Regards

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Thanks Tom, unfortunately this was the only item. She's supposed to be sending me a picture of her grandfather. From her account of it, the wound was severe enough to prevent him from further military duty, and he filled some sort of municipal duty. I'm trying to get all the info I can from her.

                    Hello,
The same kind of box with a paper hinge is ok as is the non-magnetic pin with incuse-relief #4. The pin is probably made of brass with a silver finish over it.
                    Best regards! Tom

A very nice box, I'm not 101% sure on how old (early, mid, late) or who made this.

The base material's consistant with the more later (late 42/43 onwards) versions as is the make up, the chances are this box could well be non maker marked inside ??? This setup was used for a multitude of awards that are consistantly more later war, I've held a lovely Luft one !!! I have to go back to Germany and get several pic's There are versions that are 'earlier' but the hinge is different and there is also a catch on them of different sorts to normal.

This is different to the cardboard versions in this colour, this one is wood and has the 'claw' hinge. The other variations in this colour of sorts with a lid held in by a hidden material strip (dark in colour normally) often referred to as 'paper' hinges. I think this is more likely to be around this period mid to late. 1940/41, doubtful....but I'd like to know and be corrected.

There are however late war non catch WB boxes with 'paper' hinges that take the conventional form of the WB box (EK/KVK style), with material liners, inner flap (or not) over the hinge etc......they normally come in black (or seen so far to my knowledge)

Any variation's or new ones come to light please do post them !

Overall a nice box and I wouldn't lose sleep over it, being early late or ????

The chances are it took some time before he was even issued it, a long time probably.

Hank if the base is lose and she lift's out could you advise me of whats under it please.......don't force it or pry it though please.

                      Kind regards,

                      Marcus

Hang on thats a KB I think !!!! Don't tell me......I'll come back to you on this within 48 hrs, I might not be around for a day or two.

I'll see if I can find it....I've got all my stuff packed, moving from Germany to Florida at the end of the month. Heading back to the good ol' USA after 17 years in Europe!!!

If the base is loose, I'll see if there's any markings. Never attempted that yet with this WB.
