There appears to be a genuine gold wash/finish present on relatively unworn areas HOWEVER, I think this was an underplating for a standard originally Black finish. Gold or copper coloured platings under tombak Black WBs which retain most of their black finish are not uncommon (if you look carefully).

I agree with Mike, indeed is visible gold finish. i don't think washed process.
Non ferrous materials can handle the finish better if the original finish is off...sigpicComment
