    Verwundetenabz. Gold 30: Original?

    Hello,

Does anyone have a clue if the pictured Verwundetenabzeichen Gold is a replica or an original one? The maker is no.30.

    Many thanks in advance.

      Could somone please help me?

It is for sale for a price of 120 euros and I would really like to have an original wound badge in gold. Is it an original one?

          Hello Maarten,

I don't care for the look of this one either. There are original, injection-molded wound badges by this maker, having the large number '30' in relief and the integral hinge and catch, but this one seems highly suspect, IMO. The finish, especially, does not seem right for a late-war badge by this maker and therefore it casts doubt on the entire badge. I suppose it could be an original zinc badge that has been refinished but I would not want to take a chance on this one. I hesitated to even respond to this thread because it is really hard to evaluate this properly, based on these photos. I can't tell if there is pitting to the back or if finish has blistered and peeled away, exposing what looks like a very dark base metal.

          Best regards,
          Tom

By the pin and hinge setup it should certainly be a later zinc type, but as already said the finish is really strange. I have never seen a zinc GWB looking like that, and none of the other 30s I found in this forum look like that one.

Personally i would like to see some better pics of it before ruling it out as a fake. It looks like it at one time got a black finish over the gold one.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

                Hello everyone,

Many thanks for all of your replies.
Unfortunately I don´t have anymore pictures of it, sorry.
Since quite a few, very experienced collectors, have serious doubts about it I will not buy it. Better to buy an original for a bit more money than a questionable for slightly less.

                Again many thanks.

                Kind Regards,

                Maarten/Sperwer89
