    Gold one or not?

At the request of an interested member I would like to solicit opinions on this possible gold wound badge...we are both concerned that its a black one with the finish worn away.
    Kind regards,
    Eric
It is the one on the left.

I see a hollow badge ( that for the most part would indicate a black badge, although there has been in rare cases gold and silver badges of this " deschler " type), that from these photo's, looks to be painted silver. Perhaps better photos are needed?

Thanks Mike, better photos? when I took these I couldn't believe that it was me who did them...its going to be hard to get anything better, we may just have to asssume its a black one then.
        Regards,
        Eric

seems like it has a chance to be silver with typical blacking fadding, however model type it should be a black (so probably repainted because they were missing SWBs)

Better pics are needed IMO and taken in natural light. Some good close ups would be nice as well.

First question that comes to mind is why it should be a gold one when the reverse clearly shows silver finish...

I will try to do some daylight shots later, why gold? because in the hand it appears so.

Don't use flash in your camera when you shooting...

Deschler hollow issues can be found in silver or gold but in my experience so far is 99% are sprayed or bearing postwar finishes.

I tried not to use the flash to no avail...I think I may need a better camera than this Nikon Coolpix...anyway, the back IS silver, the front has the gold wash...lets try these alternates...

Typical black rare variant. You can find black paint on the revers.

Based on the photos i would say a silver one. The base material of the badge has started to react with the air which gives you this light red color.
                        Best regards, Andreas

Here is a silver that i recently picked up quite cheap. No doubts what so ever regarding the finish...
