    Wound Badge List of Makers.

Let start compile the list of the makers, we have done this before here on the ancient forum but now are more members and more infos for the makers.
Please if you don't sure about a makers mark don't post, also not clear maker marks can be misunderstood.

    Chris,
I don't think I have any that aren't listed on your site.
Gold - unmarked, with the characteristics of a tombak "30" but unmarked.
    Silver - "4"
    "26"
"30" tombak, round pin, stamped incuse marking
"30" zinc, round pin, raised relief marking
"65" zinc, raised relief marking in center of badge
"65" zinc, raised relief marking above catch ("heavy zinc")
    "100"
    "107"
    "L14" round pin
Black - I have a couple of marked ones but will have to look at home.

    Regards,
    Greg

        Hi Don,

Does your L/14 look like this? I believe there is some controversy about this type and its raised marking.

        Chris, what do you think?

        Thanks,
        Greg

              Hi guys,

I don't trust this L/14 type either. The sure originals both hollow and solid issues was STAMPED with different hinge and catch.

About the list of makers i must look in my files for any additional, from memory is also '129' '80' 'ESP' 'Assmann'.

Now i have some questions about the list provided so far, also some makers that are listed on the WB site are provided by members in the past.

              '18' '31' '39' '68' '91' '95' '110' '122' "L/52'
I have never seen a WB with the above marks, if someone has some pics to share please post them.
From my point of view some of the above marks has been confused, for example 122 with the L22, L/52 with the L/53 and so on.

              What guys do you think?

                Hi

I have a Black Wound badge double marked EH & 126,is that normal?,I must admit badges are really not my area,so exuse me if the question is a little stupid,
I do also have a Black Wound badge marked L/56.

                  Hi,

Re the L/14 comment above about the markings ONLY being stamped, I disagree. Here's an L14 (not L/14) with RAISED markings. It's a zincer but appears to have the copper coating under the thin silver plating/wash, which in my experience is a good sign of authenticity. The obverse characteristics of this badge match my zinc L22. The catch on this L14 is the type found on earlier tombak badges (eg 30 marked examples). Although the hinge/pin/catch assembly is unusual, it appears authentic and certainly not repaired/replaced.

                    Hi,

One more thought, if we're talking makers it would be worthwhile specifying makers specifically related to grades of badge (as per Greg's breakdown). The lists above are probably correct for BLACK wound badges, but there are a lot of makers in that list that I have never seen Silver/Gold grade marked examples.

Detlev has an L55 (no slash) silver for sale today...
(the photo is borrowed from Detlev's update)

I don't recall ever seeing a Wachtler and Lange silver WB before marked L55 instead of 100...

                              Hi Greg,

Re the 100s, I've seen images of dual 100 and L55 marked examples before. It wouldn't surprise me to find that this one has the raised 100 as well, nor would it surprise me to find out that the badge is only marked L55! The new owner will have to let us know!
