K&Q Black Wound Badge Hinge/Catch Variation

The typical Klein & Quenzer "65" black wound badge hinge/catch seem to be integral to the edge of the badge itself, at least based on what I have seen. This one is clearly different. Can this variation be dated earlier or later than the typical set up?

          Dave,

I can't answer your question if this variation, only the hinge and catch is different with the integral type, is early or late war production.
From my point of you this type is more common than the integral type and the more uncommon and scarce is the type who bearing the 3 maker marks from that firma.

          My two cents worth.
