    Wound badge silver or gold?

I bought this badge maker marked 4 as a silver , but to my eye, it appears to have gold in the recesses. It is also the same size and chunkyness as my other gold, where my silver badge seems thinner.

    What do you guys think?

For me it looks like a siver one, but maybe the rear can give us a better view ....

I can't find the thread where it was sold on estand.

I can take a pic tomorrow in daylight, but right now, the flash
      is whiting out the picture.

From the photo the badge is looking silver, later war production with washed silver finish.

Does a gold wound badge have to have a gold pin on the back?

Yeap, sometimes hinge-catch and pin are all painted with the appropriate finish, like the award.

I would say its silver...I do not think they would apply a gold finish over a nice silver finish, rather they would apply the gold directly over the zinc...or at least that is what I have seen.
