Need help on a BWB L/16 please :)

    Hi guys!

I need help to verify wether or not this badge is a good one?!

I have my opinion about it, but want some input from others!

    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hello,

I don't like it.The mm is soft, wrong hinge and catch to this maker, in my opinion, its not original.

Is the L/16 raised? Also is that some mark like a ...o ...near the top of the pin ? can you show some better shots from the side of the hinge and catch in better lighting?

        Hi guys!

I think the L/16 is slightly raised from the mark itself, but it is so small I can't be 100% sure.

juoneen: I can't see any of the marking you are referring to. Will try to post better pictures as well ASAP.

        Other opinions about this one?

I would say this one is no good. I would pass it.
So many things wrong on this one.

I can only advise to do a search on BWB L/16 and you will see what I mean.

Just curious what "issues" you see. Material seems right , some of the stippling looks die flawed, but not an issue to me, and looks like the same as one on the first page of this thread : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...16+wound+badge

It seems alright to me IMO but thats just me...check this thread as this could be a variation S&L. Check frames 13 & 14 please.

yours and the one deemed original onthe link previously posted as a variation

The second photo was darker and i had to lighten it, but hinge seems the same , and the panel on the back to the left of the numbers up to the left of the numbers that is has almost the exact die flaw to the back of that section....does anyone disagree that they are very close, and i may be wrong , but thats how it looks to me...

Heres a better shot of the other ones hook from other thread

maybe tomorrow we will see how the hooks compare, and see if anyone agrees or disagrees, ...hey we are trying to help the guy... right, so if im wrong say so, and say why, as i really dont have an L/16 to show, just found this thread as suggested above, and according to that thread it looks good to me , and was asessed so on that thread.

                  Read this:

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=L%2F16

Also bear in mind that in Germany you can find unfinished and without hardware of this type....

So it's a not match fantasy fake or original damaged mold that has been discovered lately because this questionable type is runing in the l years...

This is a perfect example of why my suggestion that threads with mistakes need to be corrected even years later when it is found that they are incorrect in their opinions.

Anyone agree? Same way with items deemed fake, and later found to be original, for the sake of correctness and education , i think if that had been done in this examples case , i would have seen it when i searched , and had not gone to the trouble to try and help the guy.

So..... incorrect opinions not corrected creates confusion , as i said i don't think i have any L16's ....so i stand corrected, and will that post be corrected with another foot note or addition to the posting at the end to the effect that the congratulations for this one on that thread was nice, but has been proven incorrect.

Thanks for the guidance. One thing i notice is the depth of these is much more shallow than ones usually encountered.

Does anyone from germany know who the culpret is that's behind these L/16 wb's. ?? I hardly buy any wound badges any longer, unless they are real cheap, unusual, or Gold versions. I may have half a dozen of so, but got em all from years gone by mostly from vets.

                      Hi,

sorry no information. Those badges can be found marked an L/16 marked sometimes on german shows. They look pretty good in hand and on the first view they look good.

But if you start to compare it with other L/16 marked badges than this badge is different and imo this it's big give away because it hasn't the look and feel of an L/16.

Like the low rim fake copies of the black wound badge are stamped these days so they start to look like real made ones.
                      Best regards, Andreas

Here mine, i have it for some time now and has some differences compare it with the others and the same die flaw...

I'm 99% sure that the above WB it's fake, but i'm more positive on mine but still i have doubts of originality, let explain:

                          I like:

                          1. Worn appearance, all others i have seen are in mint to stone mint condition.

                          2. Sheer edge markings and not same edge thickness that can happen on original awards, ie: L/56, fakes does not have this feature.

                          3. No 'Shickle' give away or bizzarre rings for hinge.

                          4. The catch is thinner and 'C' looking instead of '?' hook appearance.

                          5. Passed all test (except one, later on) for finish, overall and part bend, steady as a rock.

                          6. Better feeling and details.

                          I don't like:

                          1. Smell test proven not as expected.

                          2. Very heavy for a non-ferrous hollow issue with weight of 18,3 gr and dimensions 36,97 x 44,58.

                          3. Pin is somekind odd.

                          4. The same die flaw with the questionable type on the obverse.

As i said in my previous post, maybe original with that flaw exist, ( S&L is not uncommon on die flaws) and the fakers made a good almost indentical fake or mine is a fake too, a variation one...
                          Only time will tell.

Comments are welcome don't let the thread die...
