    Help on golden wound badge

    Hi all,

I bought this golden wound badge in case this weekend at a show. What do you think guys think of it? I have a two weeks return period.

There is no makers mark on the badge.

        Looks ok to me.

That case, is it for a Iron Cross ??

        Cheers.

It looks like an unmarked 30, the case ? There are several (many, many) forms of WB box, one like this with rounded corners could be an LDO variant.

But I too can see the imprint of the cross in the lid silk porton

          Kind regards,

          Marcus

              Box

I also noticed the EK shape in the lid. I read on the wehrmacht-awards pages that cases for gold wb's can be of the black type with white flocked material just like many EKI. SO the box is of the right type but it is still strange to see the shape here. Maybe the seller had a lot of cased EK I's and no box for his gold wb. The box carries the ldo logo. Here is a picture.

                  Hi Volkbert,

Yes I would still think it's a 30 although you'd better wait for the more conversed.

That box is probably worth more than the badge, it's lovely !!! It is an EK one by the looks and it's very possible unmarked EK, KVK boxes were used at time's for the gold and silver in the later years.......if needs be.

                  Kind regards,

                  Marcus

If you were able to take out the base (and I don't suggest you do) you may well find a serial number 621 KB.

                    Hi Marcus,

Thanks for your replies! Here is a picture of the underside of the box. It still has a price tag on it.

About prices. I paid 235 euro for this set. What should the box go for alone?

                    Regards,

                    Volkbert

235 euro is around 160 sterling and 235 e is around $190 (it's early, and prices are based on euro's only......I did it in my head so it's probably wrong)

I think you paid all of it's money to be honest, the box I have no real idea on but to give you an example 'normal' style boxes go for 100 + pounds. I would pay 150 pounds for a box like that.....but thats just me, I prefer the boxes almost to the awards. I collect them.

I would say this box is more desirable than a 'cross' marked box, and this is an earlier variant (just) to the LDO in a rectangle printed on the inside.........which are much more common compared to this style.

I think others will be able to give you a more realistic price, sorry I can't help there.

If ever you sell it please pm me

                      Kind regards,

                      Marcus

Nice set up! The badge is unmarked '30' and is in very good condition.
The case is also very nice but i don't think is the issue case for this WB, someone has add this case but is still a cool set even with the case who is not match.
For 235 EUR for this set is fair, as for the case alone the value is around 100 EUR.

Did '30' make more than one pin, hinge, catch arrangement?

I have three '30s' (2-silver, 1-gold) and there sems to be at least 2 different set-ups to the reverse.

                          Is this possible?

Just a quick question. I thought all early 30s had the concentric circles on the reverse. This one and one that I own hasn't. I'm sure i remember seeing this type of badge with same setup being attributed to a different maker.
