Imperial wound badge in black, 4 holes for what???

    Hello,

I just picked up this wound badge at a yard sale.

I could not find any markings on it.
Any ideas for what the 4 holes were used?

I'll move it to the estand, what would be a fair price for this piece?

    Thanks in advance

Who knows what the holes could be for. Possibly for sewing loops or possibly to tack on a display board post war. Regards, Ron.

            Hello Ron,

that could very well be that the holes were drilled to tack it on a display board.

            Thanks

              Hello Don,

with "post war" you are referring to the badge or the 4 holes?

Any other comments on the badge?

              Thanks

I'm sure Don is referring to the holes. The badge is good.

My guess is that the holes were drilled to sew this more securely to the tunic.
                    Best regards,

It appears the holes were drilled or punched from the back as there is still a bur around the hole on the front side or is that an optical illusion again.. It seems to me a soldier would deburr it before trying to sew it to the uniform as the rough sharp edges would or might cut the thread when wearing.
