Silver Tombak Deumer SWB: 3 Marked

Excuse the horrible pictures. I will make better ones tomorrow. I recently picked this SWB up for a very reasonable price. I have no doubt about its originality, but the maker mark and construction characteristics are interesting. Is this a Deumer or an SL?

ps..the 3 mark is nicely struck and was done before the finish was applied

From what i can see a tombak SuL which got a boggus 3 marking to increase the value.

Andy, as already mentioned the '3' mark is fake for sure, post better photos because in that position the catch remindes me Floch...

The badge is woithou any doubt a textbook SuL tombak one. But i still don't like the "3" marking and it's a "addon" to me.

So far i have not seen any 3 marked tombak Deumer wound badge. The tombak ones i know are all marked "L/11". The 3 marking come with the zinkers and than we have the 3 in a box like we know it from the iron cross.

The style of the "3" reminds me of the "3" of the Hauptmünzamt zink badges.

Thanks...never had much doubt about the originality. I found this badge for very little money and thought it was interesting because of the mark. Of note is that the 3 stamp is fairly deep and completely under the silver finish. This is visible in some of the pics. It seems to me that a post war addition would have disrupted the finish in some way.

Good point you mentioned Andy. If it would be my badge i would clean to check if its real finish or something else.

The WB is a nice heavy Tombak S&L but the mm Andy is not original to the badge, several times encounterd original WB's with false marks on them to raise i guess the value or somehow the rarity...shame on them who they destroy original itemes....
