Awarded numbers

Hi, i wonder how many wound badges have been awarded in Schwarz, Silber and Gold.
Considering that during the war probably perhaps even 20 million soldiers (combattants and non combattents) were active...a huge number must have
been awarded... Another question that comes to mind is whether a killed soldier could be given after dying a (in that case) a Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold.
Finally, i wonder if after the capitulation May '45, wound badges have been awarded during emprisonment, as was the case for other Awards.

I've heard more than 5 million awarded.

Mid-war, civilians wounded in air raids were also made eligible. So that increases the numbers greatly.

I don't think that exist a confirmed number how many has been issued...sure are thousands awarded, especially the black grade who almost any active front soldier has been wounded at least once....

I haven't see so far posthumous awards , only condolences and in some period war time elaborated heldentots issued for the death, althgough when hospitalized and then died the awards issued normally.
