Hi. As I said earlier, there have been several on Austrian ebay and I also enquired about them to very knowlegeable people on this forum. This rare style of badge is often reproduced. None of them were comfortable with it. Do you know if it is magnetic? Ron.

Very thin and not much the design in general...beware junk item.

Cut out printings exist but are jeweller copies and not official awards.

Then why do we find cut outs in different makers war time catalogues like Deumer, Boerger & Co, Assmann etc?

Shure they are privatly bought pieces but it doesn´t make them all Jeweller copies. They are bought from the makers and not from a jeweller. That term is misused IMO. Very few pure jeweller types exists.

As for the badge in question i can only echo what previously is stated regarding details etc

A jeweller is more a gold/silver-smith than a producer of badges. One that makes them by order from private indivduals and as such are not massproduced. As i said in my previous posting very few real jeweller types exists.

Just because a badge is cut out it doesn´t make it a jeweller specimen which you stated in your reply.

The only thing i do agree on is that both are privatly bought.
                          Regards

Even the better materials used to and finer constructionalong with custom treatment of finish, this is why some prefer jeweler copies.

                              Chris do the math.

Your statement that, and i quote: "Cut out printings exist but are jeweller copies and not official awards."

Contradicting that statement is several war time made company catalogues, like Assmann, Boerger & Co, Deumer, Steinheuer & Lück, Otto Schickle to name a few together with the fact that most if not all cut out types of WB´s of unknown makers also exists as non cut outs as well which in turn points to a some sort of mass production (several thousands.

Jeweller didn´t have the capacity to massproduce in the same sense as a well etablished producers and the fact that jewellers had their production privatly ordered (perhaps in a range of 100 badges or more).

There are of course "De Luxe" WB´s like KMST (Königliche Münzamt Stuttgart) , Raybacks etc but those are not jeweller made either.
                              Regards
