SWB L/13 MM Location - Odd?

Hello All,

I was reviewing some WBs in my collection, and when I was comparing this L/13 with others posted on the forum, I noted a difference in the location of the MM, so, thought I would post it for opinions. Every example I have seen posted has the MM above the catch, this one is located below the catch (I would guess they could stamp them wherever the person that day chose to, but, I haven't seen any others below the catch). I have always believed the badge good based on the obverse details, hinge and catch setups.

Also curious as to an opinion whether it is zinc or tombak. It looks and feels like zinc, but, one can notice a general "goldness" in color revealing itself through the finish on the reverse.

Weight = 23.0g, Height = 44.0mm, width 36.6mm

Looks alright to me. Cant figure out the pin cut off that way, but maybe they did some like that. On the gold wash ...........??

Imo definitely a zincer - there even appears to be a catchplate hiding under the solder. Hardware appears to be tombak though. Given that the stamped maker mark was imo not part of the die, there's no reason it can't be located anywhere on the badge.

Thanks Guys for the confirmations! (I am in the process of writing up the placards now.) I am going to refer to this as a possible "transition" piece as it appears to be a zinc badge with tombak hardware.

A block hinge on a zinc made badge isn't impossible so i wouldn't call it a "transition" piece.

I agree with Mike for zink type with non magnetic set up... usually stamped maker marks can be placed anywhere.
Bottom line a genuine WB
