    Brass stamped black wound badge

Would like to verify the authenticity of this brass stamped black wound badge. It is in near mint condition, unmarked. What makes me wonders is the background. Is it OK?

I haven't seen one with this style background before normally it should be a even pebbled background visible from the back of badge as well as the front.

Hi Karol, I too have never seen a wound badge like this one without the pebbled back ground. I would be cautious on a common item like this and stick to a "textbook" example.
      Cheers, Ade.

        Hi Karol,

To my novice eye's it looks just fine from what little I know the detail and the pin, the one and only problem as James and Ade have pointed out is the pebbled back ground !! I haven't seen one like this either and I'll be very interested to see the outcome, don't discount it yet.

I don't know enough about these to comment on variations, Chris V is the Wound Badge man, where are you Chris ?

        Kind regards,

        Marcus

So proove it is a fake!!! You weren't there so you can't tell there wasn't something like this!!!
OK, the background too seemes very strange for me, and have no explanation here. What makes me wonder is the fact the rest looks really correct, so why would someone bug up the background??? Maybe the Wound Badge Man will have a clue on this piece?
Thank you all for your help

            Hi there,

I have seen several strange stamped WBs maker marked and unmarked with no pebbled background visible and the opposite, some others the pebbled backround on the front is faded, in some others are missing small parts on the pebbled backround on the front ( i have seen the last on solid WBs too by the L/53 maker). Perhaps this could be happening by the manufacturing technique.
One thing is for sure that you don't encounter these kind of appearance often.

This WB does have characteristics of original badges, pin/catch assembly, detailed berries and the 'nerve' on the leaf.
In my opinion enjoy Karol your badge.
