        I say silver,as i have many same looking badges which are silver.

            Well if it´s silver then why the blue-ish reverse and the area around the swastika?

            Here is a Imperial that i have by the same maker as this Type 1 WB that started this topic. Still silver?

              Reverse as well.

                Looks like a brass badge silver plated and then oxidised
                to be a black one.

                    Hello Thomas,

                    If you look in old sales catalogues you might see that
                    You could order schwarz and “schwarz oxidiert”
                    The Schwarz was just painted and the schwarz oxidiert was
                    oxidised blue/black and was more exclusive and more expensive.
