Splattering on sword hilts of L/53 Wound Badges?

A question on L/53 Silver Wound badges.

Is it common for original L/53s to have splattering on the sword hilts?
Having looked at some photos of Wound Badges on WAF and elsewhere, I've noticed that some Wound Badges from various makers have splattering on the sword hilts.
