    Cloth Wound Badge in Wear?

    Hi guys,

Just looking through pictures of the German Bundesarchivs that Karsten found a link to and I think I see a cloth wound badge in wear. Look how wavy the top part of the badge is, like it is sewed to the uniform.

    Tom

p.s., no CCC in cloth however.

Thomas, could you share the link please. The BWB does look like the cloth version to me but why would he wear one cloth award and all his other 'solid' awards? It may well be the lighting on the photo that gives the illusion.

    Thanks Jonathan

Just a brass badge with the paint worn, I would say.

            Hello guys

The badge is with no doubts a metal one and worn as Robin says

            Cheers,
            Ronny

It would be difficult to apply one to a pleated pocket. In fact what uniform type would be appropriate for a cloth WB? To answer my own question I guess late war flat pocketed tunics for one. Ron.

                I´m with Ronny and Robin.

It´s too 3-dimensional to be a cloth WB, has a worn metallic appearance and doesn´t match the known Cloth WB in design.

                  Hello Tom,

a nice picture but as allready said not a cloth WB. In a blown up picture we can see some worn off black paint and the border of the badge.

I believe that if cloth wound badges were ever worn it was likely on the sports shirt.

                      Chris,

why on earth do you think they would want to wear cloth badges on sport shirts?

What´s next, on their pajamas as well... awarded for close combat and wounds received in bed

Not a cloth WB, but still one really cool photo. I'm surprised that nobody has a photo of a cloth WB in wear...

The SA Sportabzeichen was also produced in cloth for wear on gym clothing. It has been suggested that the same concept might have been extended to German soldiers recuperating from wounds. Sports were part of the recovery program for wounded soldiers at the time. This idea makes sense to me.

I wonder how many applicants would put forward their name for the Gold Class!

Thomas nice photo but i also my opinion is for an early hollow WB who has senn many battles...

Even with zoom, i tried and my self with the fastone software and i didn't see arround the badge anything to confirm cloth issue.

We still looking the pic with the cloth WB in wear, with out it i even not believe the cloth issues who are around.
