Hi all. This looks great but is it genuine? To me the detail of the leaves seems weak but that may just be the photo. Any and all opinions wanted. Ron.

Where did you find this?Is there numbers on that pin?The back,is it some sort of screw back?Never seen anything like this in my collecting.

Hi Don. The pin is stamped "silber" as is the edge. The back I believe is soldered on. But here is the problem. Within days this OTHER ONE shows up somewhere else. A little different and allegedly recently polished, but the same "pilots badge" type back. I dunno. To me that sends up a red flag. Ron.

Hello Ron,

it´s a so called Rayback WB thats made in real silver. I have no problem with the details because it looks to have been worn with pride and these are Deluxe WB´s... The catch seems to have been repaired at some point. I have been on the hunt for one to my collection for years now without finding one.

I haven´t found any information regarding the maker of these so far.

Hello Ron,

Interesting badges, I was tempted myself to place a bid on them
But after study them for a wile I found a big turn off on the mint one
These are supposed to be “deluxe” badges but look at the catch
There is no “deluxe” over that week catch.
It wouldn’t take much action to break this one

I will post a picture later after work of a catch I want to see
on quality deluxe wound badges

I might be wrong about the badges posted but I would expect
a more solid hard ware on a qulity badge.

Hi Ronny,

i have no problem with what your saying but it´s not the same type of WB that your posting the catch from. Rayback´s features can also be found on the WW1 pilot badges, i am not saying they are made by the same maker here but only showing the thin catches used on other WW1 awards.

Check put the badges in post 18 and 24 and you´ll see what i mean.

Hi Ronny. Your example is robust for sure! I would love to see the obverse. However, I have no concerns about the catches on the badges in question since that style is can be seen on German made badges of every quality. I have never seen a "rayback" wound badge before and then to see two surface simultaneously makes me wonder. But that is just me. I am rarely ever right. Hans is familier and comfortable with them. If they are legit, I missed out on the shiney one. Regards, Ron.
