Kay, the close up pictures match exactly the setup and detail on my fakes. As for the "old" rusting, this is easily achieved if you know how (sorry I'm not going to explain how it is done - this information will only help the fakers/forgers).

Kay, you asked why is it a fake, well here's my opinion:

1. It does not conform to any known BWB setups.

2. The hinge is very high.

3. The flange around the edge is very low.

4. The rusting/ageing is not the type of rusting that would occur over a 60 plus year period, the rusting is also consistent with what I term a "forced" ageing.

5. The dots/berries all over the front are not sharp - they are dulled/flatened.

6. Hardware wise it looks exactly like the fakes I have - these were purchased as fakes from someone who was honestly selling fakes/reproductions - the person I bought them off had over 200 of these - he was selling them at a few pounds each and he knows his militaria.

Kay, no one (I hope) will hold it against you - we all make mistakes (trust me I know - check out the EK forum ). The WB in question is a very convincing fake.
