Hello everyone. I did not drop off the far side of the planet, only went through a long dry spell. I just picked up this little beauty while traveling in Missouri, I passed on a fake type 1 in another shop. Any guesses on the maker?

Thanks Mike,
These are twin sons of different mothers! I am hoping the hardware will give a clue to the maker. I don't know hardware set ups as well as a lot of WB collectors. I am a novice, I only have just over a dozen badges.
The badge I passed up was a solid back, black type I or 36. It had a very small L/14 mark in a box that looked like the mark normally found on some pins, but it was located dead center on the back of the badge. The paint looked off as well. It was in a case full of medals, some good some bad but all labeled as authentic.
Happy hunting,
Henry

I wish i knew the types of pins alot better
Bought a black wound badge, mistook it for a silver wb.
And it was a condor legion type.
But has a wide pin assembly and they werent made with that type of pin so apprarently its a fake :'(
Good quality though and looks very good. So I'll keep it. Maybe if i ever decide to dress up a tunic, I'll use the WB

Henry, I might have just found a marked match for the BWBs we posted. In Don's thread of his collection, he recently posted a BWB 118 (August Menze & Sohn), this has some very similar traits to our BWBs, have a look at this thread (posts 170 and 171) -
