    Gold Wound Badge - Maker?

A recently acquired Wound Badge in Gold. It has the hinge and catch of an early 30 (Hauptmünzamt Wien), and has (very faint) the pattern of concentric lines on the back often found on 30 wound badges. Is this an unmarked 30?

The hinge. Very faint, you can see the concentric lines.

This one measures 43.9mm by 36.1mm, weighs 35.7 g, and is tombak.

        Hi Greg

Is it possible to get a side view of the hinge?

            Greg,

This looks a lot like my 30 marked Gold Wound Badge.

My measurements are the same as on yours & the weight is approximately the same (only have a postal scale, so I have to approximate).

Here are a few photos of mine for comparison.

I think yours is good. Here is a scan of mine with the concentric circles and a side view of the hinge.

IMO you can also tell "30" products by the die characteristics of the front, regardless of the markings or pins. The sword handles are the biggest clue. The right handle is sort of flat on the inner side compared to the left. Also, the stripes on the right sword handle are more straight than those on the left. Obviously other common traits, but those are some of the more noticeable ones. Also, the early 30 wound badges have those two parallel lines on either side of the hinge that, I think, were used to line the hinge up during assembly

Thanks to all for the replies. I wasn't doubting the badge's authenticity; it's good but I wanted to see more 30 marked badges. This one has the characteristics of the ones you showed (including the guide lines at the hinge), so it's an unmarked Hauptmünzamt Wien.

                        Thanks,
                        Greg
