Okay I know practically nothing about Wound Badges so if this is a really elementary question slap me silly and send me on my way. But, what does this number on the reverse mean?

The number on this particular Black Wound badge is the makermark of W.Hobacher.Regards

For new collectors reading thread.It is a makers mark.Many of the wound badges have them.But not all.We have a list of makers and are able to
look at and then tell who made the badge.Many of the makers also made unmarked badges.Some collectors can tell by looking at the unmaked ones and can tell you who made them.Many collectors have file photos to
compare with.Hope this helps.

I didn't get it from a vet, but I think that the collector I got it from did.
I don't have an "altogether" shot of the group, but here are pics of the reverses of the various medals that I got from the fellow I bought them from. Starting with the EK, which is a genuine wartime EK 2 to EK 1 conversion.Attached FilesGeorge
