Hard to say ... but i tend to say: no.

This WB doesn't feature the design of the maker marked black Assmann WB and it doesn't feature many details of the obverse design and the reverse setup from the hollow silver Assmann.

The only little link in the direction of Assmann are the "chaotic" dots on the obverse but as allready said, the rest of the Assmann obverse is missing.

You will find this obverse design on the WB minis from Wilhelm Deumer and therefore i say "no" to Assmann as maker of this WB.
      Best regards, Andreas

I find it very strange to start to compare a full sized badge with minis! The Deumer mini doesn´t even match a fullsized one if we are going to judge them by the dots.

The only to this day known maker that features the closest dot pattern is the Assmann´s

            Hello Hans,

i only wanted to say that the dots are not a waterproof for Assmann because it seems that some more makers used them. Linking this badge to Assmann because of the dots is strange too ...

Have a look on the neck of the helmet. We can see a rivet while no Assmann marked WB has a rivet at the neck part of the helmet.

Compare the swords and the reverse setup too ... not the Assmann style. So we have different designs.

Lokk also at the design line:

            1.
The shown brass one with chaotic dots, a third rivet, no maker mark and block hinge.

            2.
The black zinc made Assmann with regular dots, no third rivet, maker mark and standard setup.

            3.
The silver hollow zinc Assmann with chaotic dots, no third rivet, maker mark, standard setup.

So badge 1. would be a mix of 2. and 3. .... that looks not logical for me.

I know that very well Andreas since i have all but the Black mm´d Assmann in my collection.

All i said was that the Assmann´s are the closest design wise to the type that´s posted in this thread, i never said it is an Assmann. But it shure is closer to the Assmann then the Deumer you brought up in the discussion in a way that can be misinterpreted by some.

I mean you can´t compare a Elephant with a Donkey unless your blind

So does this stay in the catagory of "Unknown Maker"? Here's another one.....

                  Hello Hans .....

I know that too and i don't say that they are from Deumer because of the mini. The problem is that many people like to go the simple way and whenever people see this peppled dots they call it "Assmann" without further research --- we have some threads in this forum.

Have a look on the link from Ronny ... the setup from the badge posted by him is far away frim anything we have seen from marked Assmann badges.

So i think it would be the best at the moment to let those badges stay in the category "unknown maker".
                  Best regards, Andreas

                    Link from me

The maker of this badge is still unknown but I am sure that some day
we will find out who it is, maybe they are made by Assman, maybe not.

                    Cheers,
                    Ronny
