    Gold wound badge for MIA

For the Heer in WW2 if a soldier went missing and was never seen again was this considered dead and as such would this soldier recieve a posthumous gold wound badge? As always any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Todd

im not sure about mia,but the gold class was 5 or more wounds received in hostile action. also Death or total disability of the soldier entitled him to the gold grade with the award being sent to the soldier's family in a case of death
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

This soldier is listed as Vermisst, in early January 1943, in the Staligrad pocket. He was never heard from again. I don't know how it can be concluded that he was anything else but dead. Thanks for the information. I just wonder what the official stance was on those that went "missing", there are several thousand listed as missing in the Stalingrad pocket. Thanks again

He is currently listed as one of the missing in the German soldier cemetery in Rossoschka by Wolgograd. They have his name and particulars listed there. He is listed on one of the granite cubes. Does this not lend credence that he died in the Stalingrad pocket? For his family could they not address this with the government in terms of honoring him with what he rightly deserves? Just some thoughts. My wife spoke at length with her mother regarding all this information, they both cried. It is the most they have known about their father/grandfather throughout these years. I just want to find out and do all I can for my wifes family. if anyone can make a suggestion please let me know.
          Best regards,
          Todd

I don't think that the Gold WB was given to the next of kin on a KIA or MIA situation.

As far i know no award was given, only they send his stuff back to his relatives with a condolence notice or citation at least on the KIA.

Besides if the Gold WB was given, then much more plenty Gold's WB exist out there and this is not happening...
