Wound badge in cloth ???

    Wound badge in cloth ???

    Just discovered this from updated Collector's Guild - Wound Badge in cloth (screen printed). What a surprise - has it ever existed ???? (If so any period photos available).

    Yes they are original, though there aren't any pictures known with them in wear.

      Sorry to repeat Giel - but they definitely existed and yes they are original. Somewhere in somebodies archives there surely must be period photos - but not found any yet.

        How do you know that they are original?
        And any proof that they made cloth wound badges at all?

        This must be the easiest badge ever to fake just a piece of cloth a potato and some textile
        Paint..

        If I ever see a period picture of any cloth wb in wear than I can believe in them.

          That's right. The screen printed badge is something new for me. Has anyone encontered these badge before at collectors market? And for sure the period photo will be the best evidence that this type of WB ever existed.

            The wound badges, in the printed versions are origina. I have been looking for the gold version, as well as the close combat clasp, Iron Cross 1st Class, GAB, PAB and IAB, all in the printed versions.

            In 40 years of tracking down vets, I have gotten a number of the printed wound badges and have seen the printed IAB and GAB.

            Go through old reference works. Dr. Kleitmmann illustrates a number of badges in the printed version.

              Yes I have also seen them in Dr. Kleitmmann book Auszeichnungen des deutscchen reiches 1936-1945. But still no pictures of badges in wear. If they awarded them there should at least
              be some pictures.

                Cloth original awards we know that existed but we have seen some photos in wear, wound badge? NO!

                  I think Ronny got the point !!!
                  this is good suspicion IMO. but I would rather put 50% to believe they are exist, it can figure that this kind of late war badge without photos or references.

                    While there may be photos of these cloth WBs in wear, I would think in most photos it would be difficult if not impossible to recognize that what you were seeing was cloth and not dull metal.

                    Last year I picked up a grouping of 3 of these cloth WBs, Black, Silver, and Gold. All have slightly different designs indicating they were produced either by different makers or at least on different silk screen patterns.

                        I would guess one of the reasons it would be hard to find fotos is I thought many of the wearers would be severely wounded or hospital rehabing and these badges only worn on their sports kit..It probably wouldnt be good manners nor NS correct in those days to foto someone less than perfect physically..Billbert

                          Billbert, this could be the case. However I have seen pics of personnel wearing their (metal) wound badges where the aftermath of their injuries can seen. There's one I posted yesterday on the GCA forum -
