          My conclusions are:

          - Assuming the BWB I have does come with the packet, which the matching indents in the packet suggest that the BWB was in the packet for a reasonable length of time - I believe the packet and the badge are matched.

          - Neil's BWB does has striking similarities to the one I have posted, however there are some differences - specifically there are areas when the dot pattern is looked at closely there are some differences. I think there is a distinct possibility that Neil's BWB is a Carl Poellath.

            Thanks Mike,
your pic's put mine to shame , so I'll take some more over the weekend and post some that we can compare.

            Cheers,

            Neil

              Neil,

Get yourself an 8 mega pixel camera, tripod, set the ISO setting to 64 and even in **** south midlands light (it was overcast with rain about to fall at 18:30 tonight) you can get a reasonable pic.

              Cheers,

              Mike

Mike, I've got a 10M camera and macro lenses and I still can't equal your standards . The light is obviously better in your neck of the woods than mine . I was too lazy to put my tripod up, so that's my excuse .
Anyway, I did get pic's of the obverse of the two badges (Steel and Brass) and at first glance they look pretty similar. I have pic's of the backs, catches and hinges which are also pretty similar, but I haven't had time to photoShop them yet.
Here's the obverse of the Steel that came packeted (as far as I can remember) in an S&L packet.

And here's the Brass one that I started the thread off with. The lack of a rivet on the back of the helmet is more obvious on this badge as is the RH sword hilt on the edge of the leaf.
I'm still aspiring to your level of photo Mike, perhaps you can give me some lessons

Mike, I'm pretty sure that we have a match . The obverse's are identical, though there's no obvious die flaws to be certain. If your badge is original to the packet, then I have at least 1 if not 2 Poellath's (84). However, just for info, my Steel one has the hinge pin head on the Left, my Brass one has it on the Right
                      Cheers,

                      Neil
