To me it's lacking in definition; the leaves are not as well defined as I would expect. Also the hinge is not one I've seen on a 1st type, one further point what is going on with the hook - it looks very wrong.

The badge is pretty well worn, which may account for the definition, or, it could just be a dog... The catch is attached to a small base visible in the scans. I assume it is soldered to the badge proper.

This is, sorry to say, a copy. I have one just like it which I got off a friend for reference. If you compare it to an original, it has twice the weight and is cast, not stamped as it should be. Lacks the detail of an original, and the block hinge is also a big give away.
I hope you can get your money back.

Thanks, all for your input - Henrik, fortunately I was sent a small box of items on inspection (the "old school way") without having to pay anything - which is, let me tell you, a nice thing for someone to do in this day and age of scam artists and con men. Most of the exotic stuff is repro, but there's a few nice items in the lot...

Don, I'm glad for the small amount of honest people in the collecting community. As some people say, old school or no school.

Is the wound badge in silver maker marked? Would be nice to see some pictures of it as well.

Henrik and Don, here's the SWB for your consideration. It is a zinker with virtually no finish left on it. Fire away!
